 I created "Succulent Sovereigns" as a love letter to the women who raised me, especially my grandmother. I grew up on a small island where nature was everything, and the women in my family were like the earth: strong, grounded, and quietly powerful. My grandmother had this way about her, soft but unshakeable. She taught me that strength doesn't always have to be shouted; sometimes it just grows, like succulents do. Resilient, beautiful, and rooted no matter what.

The two faces in the piece represent generations. Me and her, or maybe me and all the women who came before me. And that big succulent in the center? That's her. It's bold and full of life, just like she was.

I wanted this piece to feel alive, like it's breathing, growing, and reminding us to stay connected to our roots while we keep reaching for light. It's about honoring the quiet queens in our lives. The ones who made us who we are.

 Succulent Sovereigns is a deeply emotive mixed-media piece that weaves together sculpted human forms, lush faux succulents, preserved moss, and fluid resin textures. Two serene faces emerge from an ethereal landscape, adorned with cascading greenery and sculptural botanicals, symbolizing feminine strength, rooted resilience, and ancestral connection.
